My studio has now moved to the Park Slope ( bordering on the Gowanus area) of Brooklyn. I am really excited to be located in such a great arts community of Brooklyn, and looking forward to participating in the Park Slope Open Studios 2009.

08.15.08 | Manifest Hope Entry Posted
My entry to the Manifest Hope Gallery (organized by MoveOn.org Political Action and Obey Giant) is now posted in the "Paintings" and "New Work" galleries.

The exhibition will feature 30 pieces selected by judges (including Thurston Moore, Shepard Fairey, Nancy Spector, Moby, Eric Fischl, Ross Bleckner, DJ Spooky, and others) to be displayed online in a virtual gallery. The top five pieces, as determined by the independent panel of judges, will be shown at the Manifest Hope Gallery show, which will run from Sunday, August 24 to Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. All artwork displayed in the virtual gallery will be auctioned via eBay with all proceeds going to progressive causes.

Click the link for more info/ to get involved.

08.11.08 | New Sculpture: "Delivery Trucks"
I just completed a new series of sculptures of "Delivery Trucks". Each piece is painted white with one side featuring a bright, graphic, painted image, while the other sides are left bare. This contrast allows the installation of the pieces to present two very different impressions while being viewed in the gallery. This is an ongoing series of objects with more in the works and to be posted soon...

The finished pieces can be viewed in both the "Sculpture" gallery and "New Work" gallery, while in-process images can be viewed in the "Studio Visit" gallery.

08.08.08 | New Work Gallery Added
I just added a new gallery section to my website called: "New Work". It will be updated as works are completed and documented.

The gallery is intended to be a short cut for visitors to view my latest works (which may include drawings, paintings, and sculpture), rather than having to go through every gallery to see what individual pieces are new.

07.11.08 | New Sculpture Images On "Studio Visit" Page
Check out my "Studio Visit" page to see some of the new sculpture pieces I am working on. These "Delivery Trucks" are carved wood pieces, which will will be painted white, and then will be finished with detailed advertising imagery added on in full color.

My work led me away from making objects in 2004, and towards painting and drawing. Four years later, I have returned to making sculpture, and I am excited to be working between 3-D and 2-D once again. These "Delivery Trucks" are the first 3-D objects I have produced since 2004, and I am eager to share images of the process leading up to the finished work.

06.04.08 | Yoda Drawing at POI (Bushwick Open Studios)
I will have a drawing in POI's "Drawings of Yoda" exhibition as part of their participation in Bushwick Open Studios in Brooklyn, NY. POI invited artists to complete a drawing of Yoda from memory for the exhibition.

Bushwick Open Studios is on June 7th and 8th. Click the link to get info on the events, calendar, and participants of the open studios.

03.06.08 | My Work Added To The Drawing Center's Viewing Program
My work has been selected for The Drawing Center's Viewing Program. I am very excited to have been curated into the program. My portfolio/ artist profile is now on view within the Artists Registry.

About the Viewing Program:

Established in 1977, The Drawing Center’s Viewing Program offers emerging artists the opportunity to include their work in a curated Artist Registry that is consulted by a wide variety of arts professionals from across the globe: curators, gallerists, collectors, and educators, among others. Artists accepted into the Viewing Program are also invited to meet one-on-one with the Viewing Program Curator to review and discuss a recent selection of their work. This informal conversation provides artists with a valuable opportunity to engage in a critical discussion of their practice.

Approximately twice a year The Drawing Center presents “Selections,” group exhibitions of artists curated from the Viewing Program, to give exposure to emerging artists.

02.28.08 | "Memento Mori" Exhibition at FUEL
Several of my drawings have been selected for the March-April exhibition at FUEL in Philadelphia, PA. The show will run from March 31st to April 25th with an opening on the First Friday of April from 6-9 pm.

Excerpt from the press release:

The show is called Memento Mori , "Remember you are mortal, or remember you will die" translated from the Latin. In Roman times it served to emphasize the emptiness and fleetingness of earthly pleasures, luxuries, and achievements, and thus also as an invitation to focus one's thoughts. In art it is often synonymous with death imagery, but in this exhibition, one is urged to contemplate consumer objects and political figures as symbols. The viewer is to consider the state of earthly pleasures, and society's disconnect from the difference between consumed object and pleasurable object.

02.10.08 | New "Studio Visit" Gallery Added To Website
I have just added a "Studio Visit" gallery to the website. I decided to add this gallery to provide visitors with an "online-studio visit" with me to see what's in the works. This gallery will be frequently updated with quickly-documented images of my preliminary sketches, studies, drawings, photographs and works in-progress. I'm excited to share what I'm working on with you. Check it out.
